About WE LEAGUE
Launched in September 2021, WE LEAGUE is the country’s first fully professional women’s football league.
The name WE LEAGUE (Women Empowerment LEAGUE) embodies the aspiration to establish “professional women’s football player” as a recognized profession in Japan and to give everyone involved with the league (“WE”) the opportunity to thrive also as central personalities in society.
Our sponsorship of the league
The Sompo Group has embraced the purpose “For a future of health, wellbeing and financial protection,” aiming to create a prosperous and happy future, where individuals and businesses can pursue their aspirations when they will it. As its mission, “WE LEAGUE strives to promote an inclusive society, filled with diverse dreams and ways of living, and where individuals can shine, through the power of women’s football and sports.” In line with this mission, WE LEAGUE is engaged in problem-solving and social contribution activities across the country. Seeing an alignment between the Sompo Group’s purpose and WE LEAGUE’s mission, both parties have decided to enter into the title partnership agreement.

The logo draws inspiration from the football field. It represents the unity and partnership between WE LEAGUE and the Sompo Group built through the sport.
An initiative for creating shared value
WE LEAGUE has adopted “WE ACTION” as one way to realize its mission. WE ACTION is a movement where players, clubs, partner companies, and other stakeholders come together to address various social issues, including gender inequality. Contributing to Sompo Group’s purpose of striving “For a future of health, wellbeing and financial protection,” this initiative will be tackling social issues alongside our stakeholders in different areas across Japan.
Through the partnership with WE LEAGUE, which is actively working to address gender gaps and gender issues, we aim to promote DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and tackle various social and regional challenges. The goal is to be able to create together a future filled with security, health, and wellbeing. This partnership is one of Sompo Group’s key initiatives for creating shared value with the communities we operate in.
