As women’s representation in the workforce continues to increase, the use of technology to address women’s health and physical concerns—known as Femtech—is garnering attention worldwide. In Japan, the country’s first paid Femtech service is helping women balance their professional ambitions and personal wellbeing.

Delivering value as a health support enterprise

According to estimates by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the economic loss across society due to women-specific health issues is nearly 3.4 trillion yen. Understanding and providing support for women’s health, including among women themselves, is still lacking in Japan.

As we strive “for a future of health, wellbeing and financial protection” and working to create social value as a health support enterprise, Sompo Himawari Life has developed Japan’s first* paid Femtech service in the industry, called “Linkx Life is.” Through this service, we offer opportunities for companies and employees to put women’s health at the forefront and thereby create a more inclusive work environment for everyone.

Forging the ideal path together

Within the “Linkx Life is” Femtech paradigm, we believe that realizing an ideal life design should be based on the five pillars of health, self, work, family and finances. By offering support with these five pillars in mind, our approach is unique because we encourage individuals to think about themselves from multiple perspectives, not just health. Particularly, one’s finances is an area where we leverage our strength as a life insurance company. In August 2024, we launched a lifetime balance simulation platform called “My Money Plan,” where users can gain knowledge about asset-building, prepare for health-related risks, and consult with experts. In this way, the individual can feel supported through a collaborative effort.

Pursuing an ideal life design is the first step toward living a lifestyle true to oneself. Women especially face significant hormonal changes and life events, so by preparing in advance, they can continue to live authentically without having to compromise on their aspirations. Sompo Himawari Life is here to support this essential first step.

The Femtech service “Linkx Life is” provides working women with comprehensive support to achieve a unique and ideal life design. As a health support enterprise, Sompo Himawari Life provides support systems and opportunities aimed at enhancing quality of life.
