Why redefine how and where we work
Demographic change, geopolitical risk, and shifting markets are fundamentally reshaping the business environment. Given these changes, it is timely for the company to be advancing value creation and cultural transformation across the entire Sompo Group.
Against this backdrop, we redefined the principles governing where we work to further enhance diversity and agility, and to realize new work styles that combine physical and digital environments. This initiative is not simply about office relocation; it is about creating an environment that improves productivity and strengthens organizational capabilities.
New environments to enable new work styles
The new location of the Sompo Group’s head office will be Toranomon Alcea Tower, a disaster-resilient skyscraper situated in Tokyo’s Toranomon district, an area that continues to evolve as a hub for international commerce and exchange. With approximately 3,300 square meters per floor, the office will provide a large-scale, flexible space capable of supporting diverse work styles.
Our new office will feature a cafe, coworking areas, and collaboration spaces designed to encourage communication across departments and group companies. The layout promotes spontaneous interaction and co-creation.
In addition, the office will function as a smart workplace, leveraging AI for meeting room reservations, congestion visualization, and people-flow analysis, supporting faster decision-making and greater operational efficiency.

To support the relocation of approximately 1,000 employees, a cross-functional project team has been working collaboratively on various aspects of the initiative, from site selection through to operational design. By incorporating feedback from employees on the ground, the project is creating a space that reflects how people actually work on a daily basis.
Evolution with relocation as a catalyst
From fiscal 2025, the Sompo Group’s business domains have been consolidated into SOMPO P&C and SOMPO Wellbeing. The new office is designed not only to reduce physical distance between head office functions and the SOMPO Wellbeing business, but also to strengthen collaboration across domains. Building on its traditional insurance-centered model focused on preparing for extraordinary events, the Sompo Group is expanding services that support everyday life, allowing us to stay even closer to our customers and help create positive value even in their daily routines.

The 2027 relocation marks the first step in an ongoing transformation of how we work. Even after the move, we will continue to evolve the workplace by listening to employee feedback and utilizing office data to create an increasingly supportive and effective work environment.
By making the most of both in-office and remote work, the Sompo Group aims to balance higher organizational productivity with human resource development. The relocation of Group head office functions advances these efforts, and the work styles realized there will gradually spread across the entire Sompo Group.
