Building momentum in Brazil
A few months ago in July, Sompo announced an agreement to acquire Fator Seguradora, a specialist in corporate insurance and business risk management solutions. This move marks an important step in our broader growth strategy in Brazil as Sompo Seguros.
Our growth in Brazil is built on decades of local presence and market knowledge. But this year, we celebrate 10 years of the Sompo brand in the country, bringing together the strength of our predecessor companies Marítima Seguros and Yasuda Seguros with the global strength of Sompo Group.
In recent years, we have built on that foundation through a strategic transformation focused on specialization. By concentrating on commercial and agribusiness insurance, we have strengthened our position in segments where technical expertise, disciplined underwriting, and close client relationships matter most. That focus has driven strong momentum
Today, we rank amongst the five largest insurers in Brazil’s commercial and agribusiness insurance segments, supported by approximately 670 employees across the country. Their expertise helps turn long-term strategy into daily execution and positions us for the next phase of growth.
Following the completion of the acquisition approval process for Fator Seguradora by the Brazilian regulatory authorities, Sompo is expected to further enhance its position in the country’s commercial and agribusiness insurance market, further strengthening its position and expanding its capacity to deliver specialized risk management and insurance solutions to clients and business partners across the country.

A broader strategy for disciplined growth
In Brazil, we combine organic growth with a careful eye for investing in new partnerships.
Our approach is expansive: we continue to build on a strong foundation while pursuing opportunities that can accelerate scale and strengthen our strategic position.
Our approach is focused: we pursue growth where we have established expertise and where we can continue to deliver meaningful value to clients and partners. In practice, that means staying close to commercial insurance, agribusiness, and specialty lines rather than expanding in ways that dilute focus.
Looking ahead, our priorities for the coming years are clear. They include continued growth in these core lines of business, expansion in specialty lines such as property, surety, and financial lines, and broader solutions for existing clients. At the same time, we are also strengthening our operating model through greater use of AI and data to improve efficiency, prevention, and decision-making quality. Together, these priorities support our ambition to consolidate Sompo as one of Brazil’s leading corporate risk management and risk transfer platforms.

Why the Fator Seguradora acquisition matters
The agreement to acquire Fator Seguradora is a natural extension of our strategy. Subject to regulatory approvals, the transaction will strengthen our presence in commercial insurance and specialized segments such as property, surety, and financial lines.
The transaction is also a strong strategic fit. It will broaden our capabilities in key specialty lines and strengthen our ability to address increasingly complex client risks, building on our underwriting discipline, technical expertise and strong broker and client relationships.
Our focus will then be on bringing together complementary capabilities and expertise to create long-term value and an even stronger platform for future growth.

Powered by expertise, collaboration, and technology
Commercial clients are navigating an increasingly complex risk environment shaped by supply chain pressures, climate-related events to evolving security and technology risks. Our role is not only to provide coverage after a loss, but also to help clients protect against risk before incurring losses. This requires stronger underwriting, better risk management, and the right use of technology.
In February 2026, Sompo Seguros established a digital transformation framework in Brazil to collaborate with the global initiatives of SOMPO Digital Lab. By sharing expertise and technology across digital teams in Tokyo, Silicon Valley, and EMEA, Sompo Seguros accelerates the delivery of highly autonomous, efficient, and customer-centric insurance operations.

We are also incorporating AI into selected processes under human supervision to enhance expertise, improve efficiency, and automate repetitive administrative activities.
We see technology as an enabler of better decisions, risk prevention and service, but the opportunity lies in combining it with technical expertise to improve outcomes for clients. That combination will help us respond to increasingly complex risks and build the next chapter of Sompo’s growth in Brazil.
